Dr. Horia Popa
Dr. Popa graduated from the School of Veterinary Medicine in Romania in 1994. After finishing veterinary school, he moved to the U.S. In order to be licensed to practice veterinary medicine, he passed the North American Veterinary Licensing Examination (NAVLE) and was accepted into a one year clinical evaluation at Purdue University , which was part of the AVMA (American Veterinary Medical Association) requirement. After completing the evaluation, he practiced general veterinary medicine in N. Virginia. During this time he developed an interest in critical emergency care and enrolled in a one year internship in an emergency clinic in Annapolis. After the internship, he returned to his former hospital in N. Virginia and continued to do relief work at the emergency clinic in Annapolis.
Dr. Popa has been the owner and the primary veterinarian of Seven Locks Animal Hospital since October 2009. Dr. Popa is licensed and accredited to practice veterinary medicine in Virginia, Maryland, and Washington DC.
Dr. Popa has a special interest in surgery, internal medicine, imaging diagnostics, and emergency and critical care. He is also a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, Veterinary Emergency Critical Care Society, World Wide Veterinary Services Organization. Dr. Popa enjoys a variety of outdoor activities such as running, kayaking, biking, tennis, and camping.
